David Adams Co-Founder Fourteenjay Salon Consultant Trichologist
Master colorist, design authority, educator and consultant trichologist, David Adams is known as much for his easy, aspirational manner and ability to connect, as for his technical brilliance. It is his unique ability to combine the two so well that garners such high respect from guests and peers alike.
Living and working extensively in London, David began his career with such noted hair icons as Daniel Galvin, Trevor Sorbie, and Vidal Sassoon, creating images for celebrity guests, advertising campaigns and in music and film.
His career lead him the US, where he became the Creative Technical Director for Aveda Corporation, sought after beauty-brand consultant, and ultimately to his Tribeca based salon, Fourteenjay, where he serves guests behind the chair and incubates all of his hair color and trichology related projects.
The vision for creating FOURTEENJAY salon was born of a desire to connect both creativity and color with the consumer. “We wanted to create a space built on the mantra – Beautiful Color Begins with Healthy Hair – and to make great hair color easily accessible”, says Adams. Considered a “stealth” influencer, David’s passion is to make the same color he creates for TV, film and editorial, available to every woman.
Over the course of his career, David has also gained notoriety among the art, fashion and music communities, generating an enviable list of celebrity clients including: Kate Bosworth, Greta Gerwig, Jennifer Lawrence, Elle Mcpherson, Bjork, Claudia Schiffer, Heather Graham, Jude Law, and Kylie Minogue. He has worked for such fashion greats as Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Balenciaga, Miu Miu, Givenchy and Prada.
After completing several years of intensive study, David has most recently added the title of Certified Consultant Trichologist to his list of accomplishments. His passion is to make it possible for women who may be experiencing scalp, thinning hair and hair loss issues, to have an honest, open conversation in a comfortable, supportive environment. “Typically, women don’t raise the issue until they have a concern or notice a symptom”, Adams says. “We want to change that by creating treatments and experiences that not only treat the guest’s primary scalp or hair loss concern, but also provide exceptional education on how the scalp and hair work as part of one unified eco-system. We see trichology based treatments and services as the new frontier in creating beautiful, healthy hair.”.
