Biography

With a discerning eye for fine art and design, Hyea W. Kang's creations are inspired by astute observations and impressions of her subjects. Her passion for the nuanced exploration of human characters is palpable in her photography, whether she unveils hidden elements or captures surface essences. Kang transcends the three-dimensional world into the two-dimensional medium, using her artistic lens as a conduit for diverse aesthetic interpretations, and the intricate interplay of documentary aspects in staged photographs.

Career highlights include her decade as Vogue Korea's chief photographer, followed by global engagements in major cities and collaborations with renowned beauty and fashion brands. Academically accomplished, she holds a BA in Advertising and Photo Illustration, an MS with a Digital Mixed Media focus, and an MFA in Photography. Beyond academia, Kang not only shares expertise through teaching but also embraces her role as a mother, influencing both her personal life and her perspective as a professional photographer.

강혜원은 Brooks Institute of Photography에서 광고 사진을 전공하고 10여 년간 보그 코리아 수석 사진가로 활동 후, 현재는 서울, 뉴욕, 파리, 밀란 등 주요 도시에서 활동하며 전 세계 유명 패션 및 뷰티 매거진과 브랜드와 협력하고 있다.

대상을 심도 있게 관찰하고 탐구하는 데서 영감을 얻는 그녀는 표면적 아름다움을 포착하는 동시에 내면에 숨겨진 본질까지도 철저히 드러내는 작업을 꾸준히 이어오고 있다. 변화하는 문화적 트랜드를 이해하고, 렌즈를 통해 다양한 미학적 해석을 시도하면서 사진을 통해 그녀만의 독특한 시각을 제시하려 한다.
